Evanston Lake House & Gardens Inc. NFP

Patrick L. Donnelly, President

Mr. Donnelly is a Television Commercial Executive Producer with an emphasis on budgets and accounting for television production. He has produced commercial shoots and national campaigns for  many Fortune 500 companies including Allstate, Best Buy, Craftsman Tools, Target, the Chicago White Sox, NASCAR and more. He received his B.A. from Ohio University in Film and Television and is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School.

John J. Walsh, Vice President

Mr. Walsh is a law firm partner and trial lawyer focusing on the defense of physician and hospital liability cases; employment discrimination; and civil rights and law enforcement liability. He has successfully tried more than 50 cases to verdict as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts in northeastern Illinois. Mr. Walsh has a J.D at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and a B.A from the University of Notre Dame. His bar admissions include the Illinois Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, General and Trial bars, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Tom Hodgman, Treasurer

Tom is the Director of Conservation Transactions for The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental non-profit. Tom is responsible for developing and structuring large landscape conservation projects with a particular focus on forest conservation. Since joining The Nature Conservancy in 2011, Tom has led conservation acquisitions of over 170,000 acres in places such as the Olympic Rainforest the Cascade Mountains of Washington and the Crown of the Continent in Montana. Prior to TNC, he worked for Equator LLC (now BTG Pactual) developing and managing timber investments in Brazil and Latin America for institutional investors. Tom has also worked as a forester for Yale University and as an environmental scientist for Arcadis in Chicago. An ETHS alum (1999) and former Camp Echo counselor and trip guide, Tom has a deep and abiding love for Evanston. Tom holds a BA from Wesleyan University in Environmental Science, a Masters in Forestry from the Yale School of Forestry, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. He lives in Evanston with his wife Amy, his son Sam and his daughter Quinn.

Alex Block, Secretary

Mr. Block is a committed political organizer. He has worked for Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky in Washington DC and for President Barack Obama in Ohio. In his spare time, he helps coach Miami University’s nationally recognized mock trial program — where he is a two-time All-American. Mr. Block has a Bachelors degree in Political Science and History from Miami University. He is an ETHS alum, former ETHS Board Member, and a former Camp Echo counselor.

Benjamin Iverson Lumpkin, Director

Mr. Lumpkin served as a Director of First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust, National Association and First Mid-Illinois Bancshares Inc. from January 2009 to July 2014. Mr. Lumpkin also served as a public relations officer for an international outreach program at Yale and is a regional Emmy Award Winning writer. Mr. Lumpkin received his Bachelors degree in History from Yale University and Masters degree in Journalism from Northwestern University.

Jeffrey P. Smith, Director

Mr. Smith is an attorney who earned his B.A. at Northwestern and his J.D. at Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and vice-president of the Harvard Government Attorneys Project. Experienced in government and the public interest sector as well as private practice, most of his career has been in the area of civil law. He has practiced in nearly every forum in Illinois, from hearings before the Illinois Department of Labor and the Illinois Commerce Commission to arguments before the Illinois Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He was first listed in Who's Who in American Law in 1999.

David Jennett, Director

Mr. Jennett has a B.A. in History from Carleton College and has a lifetime commitment to enriching the lives of children in the fields of both mental health and education. He currently teaches and does milieu therapy at the New Trier High School Learning Center, an alternative high school program operated by New Trier Township at New Trier's Northfield campus.

David has also taught social studies at Chute and Nichols middle schools in Evanston School District 65, and was assistant shipwright at Northwest Seaport Maritime Heritage Center in Seattle. David is a 4th generation Evanstonian.
